3rd World Championship Bass on The Fly Fishing Tournament

This event will be held May 12th at Lake Fork Marina (TX) from 6am-2pm. It is exclusively for fly fishing persons and has two divisions. One for boaters and one for kayaks/pontoons/tubes. Entry fee is $55/person and 1st place boater division paid $500 in 2011. Plenty of prizes, casting lessons & contests, and a nice goodie bag. See all the details at www.bassonthefly.org. Interesting. I wonder, in the normal B.A.S.S. type tournaments, the rod is limited in length to 7' 11". I wonder if they will be limiting fly rod length also.

From the rules........

"7. TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT: All fish must be caught in a legal sporting manner. Trolling with combustion engine as a method of fishing is prohibited. ONLY RODS AND REELS, LINE AND FLIES DESIGNED EXCLUSIVELY FOR FLY FISHING MAY BE USED. No soft plastic baits, or any other type of bait, customarily used for fishing with other types of rod and reels may be used. No live or prepared bait is permitted. Liquid fish attractants are allowed. Only one (1) rod may be used at any one time. No other types of rod and reels (spinning, bait casting, spin-cast) are permitted in the boat during this tournament."

Doesn't say anything about rod length.

The 7' 11" rod length rules applies to all the fly tourney's I'm aware of out here, don't know about third world tourney's though.
