    Default Cats

I was reminded this evening about how hard channel cats smack a fly. MAN if bait fishermen only knew..... that's WAY more fun than watching a bobber! I was tossing a furled mohair leech tonight, trying to catch crappie and gills and had one hit right when the fly hit the water.

Its impossible to not love channel catfish once you've caught a good one on a fly rod!

I thought you were talking about using felines for bait. I imagine they would fight pretty good, too.

I catch a few while crappie fishing, mostly in rip-rap areas. Got a couple up to 3# this year so far. I throw clousers and buggers, and hit a few. Lots of fun on the whippy stick.

if every cast caught a fish, it would be called "catching" not "fishing"

Yes, the areas I fly fish at night are very open, with mowed grass to the waters edge.

I call it "spray and pray" when its dark... do your best, and pray it doesn't hit you in the face.
