Thread: I caught a Black Crappies on a fly for the first time!

Default I caught a Black Crappies on a fly for the first time!

Warm-water shout out for this fun first! What an electrifying fish! One that I faught actually felt like it was vibrating instead of shaking. Awesome fun! And spikey.

Pictures here, just look at point number 2.

When we went to Minnesota with my in-laws last year, my father-in-law purchased Northland Fishing Slurpies, which were fantastic for crappie, according to the packaging. Any other favorites out there for this species?

    Congrats!

Woolly Buggers (unweighted or weighted), Boa Yarn Leeches, Craft Fur Clousers (with small beadchain eyes), microjigs like the Springbrook Wunder, Myakka Minnows...These fly patterns have ALL caught a lot of crappies for me.

Buggers are great, marabou muddlers, too; yellow works well for crappies around here. Congrats on the spec.

Congrats! Pink over white Clouser minnows, orange Slumpbusters, and black furled mohair leeches....

Also, look up the color combination "electric chicken" and be creative. Pink and chartreuse, black and chartreuse, blue and white.....
