Thread: Opinions on nets

Like John Scott, I have fished with and without a net. I have been an avid fly fisher for over 30 years. While walking/wading, I prefer to leave my net in the car. It gets in the way and I seldom have the need to use it. I am generally able to stoop down and retrieve my catch with a wet hand. I DO prefer to keep one with me while on a pontoon boat or in a drift boat. It's easier for me to hoist a catch into a boat with a net, rather than to lift the fish at the end of my line. Just my .02..... Best Regards....

I rarely use one anymore. I use forceps with the fish still in the water. But I still carry one for the times a fish gets a fly deeper than the mouth or is a very frisky devil. Or I want to get a pic.
Good fishing technique trumps all.....wish I had it.

These are excellent nets, lighter and hold up a lot better than wood, friendlier than knotted nylon to the fish, and S-2 sells replacement net bags for them, easy to install. I have one I use in streams and another from pontoon boats.

I'm remembering they run right around $90 for a trout size.

Those look really similar to the offerings from Nomad. I'm definitely leaning towards a composite/carbon fiber over wood for durability and weight savings.

Carbon fiber?......I may have found a replacement for the Brodin.
