Whitlock uses one in his video that I have on Red Fox Squirrel Nymphs. I made a couple up out of dowel sticks. I have mono on each end. (one fine, one med) It works good. I wouldn't say it is faster, or better. It is just a different way of doing it. It is handy if hackle is getting in your way, or if you want to do a whip finish that is back further than the eye point, say BEHIND the hackle, instead of in front of it...with a hackle collar. This tool looks like it would be very useful. If you can get it cheap, it would certainly be worth trying out.
