    Default what is this pattern?

    i feel like an idiot, i tied this around a month ago, cant for the life of me remember what it is, my guess is a Large Mayfly variant....

    if i remember correctly i substituted the body with poly yarn..... i still say large mayfly variation of some sort....
    any body else?
    and heck, while we are at it..... suggestions, or improvements?

    It kinda looks like a Quigly Cripple although the wing butts on that pattern are clipped short; I've also seen variations where the wing is left long over the hook eye (but tied in a more upright position) and clipped short over the body, like so:






    Both work; for your fly I'd recommend cutting back one end or the other to make it easier to cast.

    +1 with Scott. Cut off the rear deer hair leaving a short tuft. Here are the more traditional versions of the QC.

    although the colorations are diffrent, the green drake has a striking resemblence...
    now i dont know what to cut! lol either way you look at it, the front is too long.....

    (its kinda funny, 20 minutes went by from the last line to this one)

    i substituted the front wing too, thats probably why it sticks out so far, plus i have one hell of alot of thread tward the front....

    it does look similar, and now that you say to trim an end... ya think taking the front back to just a little less then half the hackle would work? if you look at the pic you can see shorter fibers around the length i am talking about... on top of that, i think it would balance the aesthetic value a bit too...
    thanks for your input, honestly the name doesn't ring a bell, but the similarities are there.
