    Default Bit Different Stimulator

    Hi,
Haven't tied or fished these patterns in quite a while. This summer, I should be there when the Western Stoneflies are hatching. Did this one a little differently.

Looks good Byron. I like the thin profile and the mixtue of hair material. It should be a little less wind resistant and cast better. Is the body just thread or very light dubbing?

    Another beautiful fly.

Since we've been on the topic of naming recently, the fly is more akin to an Improved Sofa Pillow.

Thanks Steven, I used uni stretch "thread" for the body. I really like it because you can really control the bulk. Ever tried it?

I've got some in kind of a dark yellow and black. Use it to build up bodies on the few stonefly nymphs I've tied.

You should feed that thing it looks a little anorexic...... lol just kidding. I just like mine to look like a fat t-bone come down the river. The stimi is actually my favorite fly to tie..... unfortunatly I have not figured out how to get pics like some of you guys so I cant show you.

If that's anorexic you should see some Clyde and Tummel style spiders. Half a dozen turns of silk and a turn of hackle and that's it. They work though.

    Byron,
I like the distinction in size between the body hackle and head hackle. I've had some success with a similar body arrangement with large Mayflies. (I use the term Mayfly in the English sense). The stimi is a pattern that I've tried but never had any success with. Other than using it to hang a nymph below. Once tied up an order of olive ones for a customer going to fish Lough Corrib at Mayfly time. Apparently he did well on them.
    Cheers,
    C.

    Fish4:

Fed this one overnight. Tied a bit differently. Fatter, underwing, and brown hackle in front.
