    Default Jon Boat Anchor System

I have, and primarily use, a 12' jon boat w/electric outboard. I've been toying with the idea of a fore & aft anchor system that can be deployed and retrieved from the tiller seat. I have a couple of thoughts, but I'd like to hear some independent ideas. And, I don't want my boat to look like a Rube Goldberg machine when I'm done with it. Anybody have any plans? Pics would be great.

Rope Rachets may have some merit....

Having said that a cleet and pulley system may be what you end up with.

You will get lots of ideas...the subject seems to generate a lot of discussion.

    Lotech,

This is what I have on my Frontier 12 from NuCanoe. I can raise and lower the front or rear anchor from where I am seated and it has worked great. I had them on my NuCanoe 10 foot model and now have them on my Frontier 12 from NuCanoe.

Fly fishing and fly tying are two things that I do, and when I am doing them, they are the only 2 things I think about. They clear my mind.

Thanks Warren. That looks like the cat's meow.

What I like the most is that they can be removed. The top part can be removed. Just turn and lift off. The mount will hold one of the Cabela's rod holders if you want.

That Cabelas anchor system looks exactly like the Scotty anchor lock rebranded. I have one on my pontoon and it works great.

It is made by Scotty. Cabelas new fly rod holders and mounts are also Scotty made. They seem to be more expensive then the Scotty branded originals.

I looked at both the Scotty and the Cabela's brands online. If it says Cabela's on the side they're $29.99. If it says Scotty, they're $23.59. Hmmmm, curious.

Joe Hyde put an aticle in the warmwater or panfish articles about his anchoring system.
