Default PA carpin and carp fly info

Been devouring the videos and whatever I can get my hands on about this.....Going to be in the southeast PA area for a week the end of april and I'd like to tie up some flies for carp. Any help would be great appreciated.

I have no boat, will be bankfishing, if anyones interested or wouldnt mind taking a guy holler. I know a few holes in the great north I wouldnt mind passing along for the help!

Have never carp fished before, definatly have the gear...just need some guidance on how to, what not to do, and what to use fly wise.

    Thanks!

By far my best carp flies have been #2-6 Clousers tied with fox squirrel above, gray squirrel below, and black Krystal Flash for the lateral line. Use bead chain eyes on some and brass I-Balz on others, for different sink rates.

That's the bug I use here in MT. No idea if it works in PA, but I'm sure it'd be worth a shot.

I just saw this post last week. The guy was fly fishing on the Conestoga Creek near Lancaster, PA, which is in SE PA.

Can't help you with specific water, but have fished for them extensively in surrounding states. Accurate casting helps! Try to land the fly 18 to 24" away from them and slightly to the side if you can. Strike when you see them tip up. Other things to look for when searching for them is bubble trails that are moving (methane bubble releases will stay in the same spot, carp disturbing the bottom will make the bubbles release in a trail as they move) or "muds" which will be clouds of silt made by feeding carp. More subtle clues will be a push of water made by large carp, as they displace alot of water when they move. Try and predict the movement and direction and keep a tight line. Make small twitches to entice them into taking. Strike at the least feeling of weight on the line. Crayfish flies (once again with the weight in the form of dumbells or beadchain) and San Juan worms in pink, red, or chartreuse can be productive, also. Carp aren't very tippet shy, I generally use 3x fluro for the majority of my fishing.

#8 brown woolly worm, with a shot of crayfish scent on it. As charlie said, put it a couple feet upstream of a feeding carp and hold on. They are feed as much by scent as by sight. Was catching them on flies decades ago, before it became a fad. Many times had some fun on an otherwise slow day by looking for carp and casting a little woolly to them. Of course we were unable to see the future and had no idea anyone would ever care about catching them.

thanks guys! Gonna bring a 10'6 gl4 and a 9' 7 gl4. Should be fun. Got an idear I am wanting to try. I know it works here for bows in the shallows...I am thinking it'll work on ole bugle lips too. Either way it'll be an experience!

Carp will eat anything a trout will eat. There's no reason to create anything special (except for the fun of tying something special of course).

I fly fish for carp during the hot weather, I'm located in So Cal and have had luck with hare's ear nymphs, carp candy and like said before here, they will go for anything trout like. Catching carp on the fly is rewarding and a half but it is a patience game. Unfortunately if there is no carp, there is no game because it's not very likely that you will catch a carp blind casting but then again I did catch one blind casting a # 10 crappy candy fly.
Your best chance to catch one with whatever you throw is when they are tailing or eating from the surface.
    Best of luck.
