Default The Yellow Breeches and 50 degrees!

Well, when it's 50 degrees in February and sunny, with no wind.....you go fishing. While folks are waiting for opening day and the spring stockings....some waters are full of hungry holdovers.

I used to fish the Breeches back in the late '70's and early 80's it was good stream to fish then. I have a print by Robert Abbett of the Boone House and the dam.

Looks as if you had a stellar day.

    Good looking fishies, Ralph.

Looked around your site for a while and didn't find a reference to the Golden Retriever. Could you post some more information on that one ??

Nice fish! It's 65 outside, little winter stoneflies are buzzing all around and I'm stuck inside re-modeling a bathroom. Thanks for the pics.

    Regards,

John, The Golden Retriever is a fly out of Mossy Creek Outfitters in Virginia. It's an excellent pattern and just plain old works. It's grown on me.

Narcodog, It's still a great stream. But I fish during the week whenever I get the chance....the place can get crowded on the weekends.

Reminds me of the saying "That dog will hunt." Not really my style of fly, but I'm the anti-wooly bugger guy to start with.

John, that about sums it up for this pattern. I tend to not fish buggers much these days as well. But this pattern, drifted under an indicator in nymph fashion?....it does well.
