    This is the best top to bottom review of vises I have seen.

    I had a similar starter vise until I wore out the jaws. Now I have three other vises. Your price range is rather restricting, so here are my suggestions.

    For a non-rotary I would suggest a Griffin 2A - good for travel too because the post separates into two pieces. http://www.griffinenterprisesinc.com/vises.html. I have one (and also a Griffin rotary cam) and must say the jaws have exceptional steel.
    My go-to rotary is a Danvise and I have tied about 2,000 flies on it. The jaws are very good, and have the advantage of closing parallel (which is not the case in some cam vises). One of the sponsors here sells them and they are award winners. http://www.btsflyfishing.com/catalog...VisesTools.htm

    Tom;
    Hook and Hackle has a rotary vise for 18 bucks!

    My Danvise rarely disappoints me. I'd highly recommend it! The only times it makes me mad are when tying size 18-20 flies because I goofed up the jaws and the hook slips, and when tying with duratin coated hooks because they slipped as well.
