I found it! I found your perfect fly fishing hat! Since some on this site don't understand what "don't want to spend a lot means" perhaps they will pitch in and buy it for you as a gift!

Of course there is the problem of getting the current wearer of the hat to sell it to you.

I already said my Tilley is the "best" but that's just since I moved north... I have a well-worn Columbia "flats" style hat with a slightly long and wide bill and the neck-ear drape made out of SPF 1,000,000 or something material. I wore it all the time down south. Cool and kept me from getting fried.

I don't get it, everyone posting their favorite hat and adding links, but only two actual pictures with said hats?????

    or the white straw

And of course, a baseball cap.

That's a Cap, a hat has a brim all the way around. Protects you ears from the sun and errant flies. My boonie hat last seen floating down the hooch as I crawled out with my fishcat on my back and my summer fishing hat.

Not cheap like the Outback, but note in the picture they use of me for my articles I seem to be wearing the same hat as FlyGodess.
That one is HEAVY and WARM and perfect for mountain fishing. Not so good for warm weather.
My personal recommendation for warmwater headwear is not a full brim hat but a baseball cap with a buff or neck gaiter. Bass pro has their version on sale for $13.
