    Default Montreal Wet Fly

Just playing at the vise today and decided to tye up the Montreal. This fly works great for me on those chilly cloudy darker days in late fall. This fly always produces under those conditions 98% of the time.

    Hi Fontinalis,

Yes, a dark Montreal is one that I like to keep close at hand as well. I find it a great evening fly, along with the mallard and claret. Similar colour schemes and both good at dusk.

    Beautiful!
Do you pre-coat your slips with Flexament before cutting/tying them in? Or will they keep their shape without doing that? I haven't tried this style for awhile... Might have to give it another go.

Your Halloween Fly was a beauty as well!

    Hi Dave:

I do not coat them at all. I am using Matched Pairs, meaning left and rights from the wings and NOT the tail section. Never a need to coat them at all. The wing mantains it's shape when you cut them and tye them in.

I was requested to tie up some of these a couple of years ago. I think I like your version with the wrapped hackle better.
