If you are willing to be on the water just as the sky lightens in the morning (and in July this will be about 4:15-4:30 am) you can often catch salmon on the surface. There probably won't be any hatches, but you can troll with floating or sink-tip line. The fish will go down when the sun hits the water. Productive streamers are grey ghost and Barnes special. I have had particularly good success this year with a Joe's smelt. The traditional Maine trolling streamer is a tandem.
