    Default Furled leaders for pike

I am looking for a couple furled leaders for pike fishing. Want fluorocarbon and built for an 8 or 9 weight tossing big flies.

I would rather buy them from and individual than a big company.

    Thanks
    Joe

Wouldn't Kevlar be a good idea?

Could be but then why fluoro, fluoro doesn't stretch. Kevlar is bullet proof (no pun intended) so you can get away with smaller diameter which means better turn over (more supple)

Fluoro does streatch, as much or more than mono!! I did some pull testing and at 4# the fluoro did quite well. The leaders made from 2# test fluor out did the 4# test though.

I read where is does stretch, you are right, but not as much as mono, just more than expected. Thanks/

The interesting thing was that Berkley Vanish 4# Fluorocarbon fell short of the Berkley 4# XL mono but the Vanish Transition Gold 4# surpassed it!!??
I chose 4# pull as i did not want to do distuructive testing. 4# was also the point where the streatch wanted to stop!

I would think that an 18# test leader should be good for Pike. How about?

I think Vanish is the worse excuse for Fluoro. Off the subject a bit, but while fishing a Trophy lake, I had a nice fish on 6lb Vanish, it broke, then another, broke. I switched to 8 lb Vanish, broke twice, then 12 lb, broke! Seriously! I switched to 6lb P-Line and landed every single one I was lucky to hook.
I have never used Berkly Vanish 100% pure fluoro.
As far as the test leader, you know your stuff. I am not familiar with Pike, but I am Musky. They hit like a freight train but no head shaking so to speak. Then run a few times.
