When Mustad 'discontinued' their old style hooks, they sold them off to companies that sold them to us until they were gone (found some good deals until they were all gone ).

Many of the 'hook companies' out there were just buying hooks made by others and selling them under their own 'brand'. Companies like Orvis, Cabela's, J. Stockard, Hook and Hackle fall into this category. If they decide to stop selling these, they just stop buying them.

I've not heard of a modern hook manufacturer (most of them are overseas) 'going out of business' except for a few oddball companies from Europe. These companies sold off their inventories before they closed shop.

Mustade, Eagle Claw, Gamakatsu, Owner, Tiemco, Daichii, all the 'big names', are healthy as far as I've heard.
