    Default Snook Alley?

In March it is time time to head for Tampa from Norway. I might want to explore the Snook Alley. Isthere any chance of doing without a boat? Or is wading with flyrod impossible?

Snook Alley is a stretch of the Intercoatal Waterway that is famous for the night time lit boat dock fishing for Snook. Wade access is almost nil and a boat is needed. Perhaps someone from near there can let us in on a wading/fly fishing honey hole but I've not heard about it.

Best bet is to hire a guide. Rick Grassett and Pete Greenan come to mind as a couple of the best. Night time dock fishing isn't for the unfamiliar. And No, I don't see any way of wading for them; docks are, by definition, in deeper water.
Be aware that snook is closed here on the west coast due to winter losses the last 2 years, so you can't keep one. We've had a very mild winter this year, so the fish will probably be moving toward their spring haunts early.

The Snook should still be in Snook Alley and other inshore haunts. They won't head to the beaches before May and will probably be July/August before you can sight cast to them from the beaches.

To do the dock lights on the cheap, find a kayak guide who will take you out once the sun goes down.
