Our TU Chapter decided to try and raise some funds to support projects and came up with the "Two Fly Event." A team consists of two persons, each will submit an entry form and $20.00 total. Fish only fly rods, no scents or fish attractants permitted. Each person will only be allowed to carry two flies to fish with the entire day. Patterns must be declared on the entry form. No flies larger then size #2 nor shank to exceed 4X. Two flies of same pattern may be used as long as they vary in size. Single barbless hooks or barbs closed. Tandem rig counts as two flies. Hooking a judge or another contestant will result in a penalty of a $50.00 donation to the group!!! Fishing begins at 10:00 am and you must check in to the registration area ABSOLUTELY no later then 3:00 pm. No beats assigned, open fishing in the designated areas and must vacate a hole or run after an hour. Lost or broken flies cannot be replaced (see exception below). Once both flies are lost you're through for the day. No flies may be given to a partner or another contestant. EXCEPTION: A contestant may use one additional fly by making a $20.00 donation to the group! Contestants may have no more then 2 flies in their possession during the event. Repairs to flies amy only be done with the use of glue or other adhesive. No re-tying of flies with thread or other materials. SCORING: Each trout 2 points regardless of size. Each team allowed to measure 3 trout between them. Each 1 inch is a point and any 1/2" or greater is rounded up to next inch. A 12 1/2" fish is 13 points. No culling of measureable fish, once recorded that's it. Foul hooked trout not counted. TEN BONUS POINTS are earned if you return at the end of the day with both starting flies intact. Prizes for our fund raiser this Saturady are both 1st. place team members get a hand crafted wooden fly box. Both 2nd place members get Fleece fingerless gloves and a lanyard. And 3rd. place team members get a fly box with flies. Plus bragging rights. Honor system throughout the event; although some may think that it would be impossible for fisherpersons to adhere to that principal hopes remain high!!! Gentlemen start your engines!!! Should be a fun time tomorrow. I didn't see a provision in the rules sheet for any tie scores but I'm sure the wealth of expensive prizes can be duplicated if necessary or maybe they could have a 30 minute or one hour fish off.
