Thread: Montana time

33" on Lolo Pass in the past day or so - and obviously larger amounts higher up in the mountains, 25" in Turah, about 20 miles east of Missoula, about 15" in Missoula . I've shoveled more snow off the driveway in the past 36 hours than in the past 24 months, partly because the past two years it came in smaller amounts over a longer period of time and often times no shoveling was required.

After a winter that wasn't, we finally have one that is - probably record breaking in some places just yesterday and today, if not on the longer term, through the spring.

    John,

That's a lot of snow; looks like La Nina's going to try and make up for ignoring MT. My mother-in-law got out of Whitefish just in time (she snow-birds in the Cali desert). Take it easy on the shoveling; got to have a strong back to handle all those fish you're going to catch this spring.

    Scott -

I actually enjoy shoveling snow. It fits in nicely with an overall winter conditioning program of indoor rowing and cycling, weight lifting ( moderate weights ), calisthentics, and walking ( maybe some snowshoeing given current conditions ) that are going to help me get on the summits of Wyoming Peak, Mount Wright, Trapper Peak and some others by the end of the year.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread. Montana Time really is an entertaining video.

Snow gauge at Colter Pass outside Cooke City:

Up almost 2 feet since earlier in the week; not bad but still way below last year (highest I saw it was almost 11').

    Spring ??

    What about TODAY ??

Had a quintuple to include the three above plus a mountain whitefish and a couple smaller rainbows. Only got in a little over an hour of fishing before an incoming front chased me off the water, but had 12-13 hooked and all in hand.
