A few thoughts about winter fishing...

First, there just isn't the same amount of food around in the winter. The the bugs are still around but they aren't moving around much. Like the fish, they are conserving energy down deep and under rocks. Unless you are fishing for spawning fish, then the fish won't be moving around much. At this time of year, the warmest water is at the bottom of the deep holes, so that's where you will find the fish. I usually fish dark colors deep. Bead heads are a good bet. Don't be afraid to throw an egg sucking leech as eggs are in the water.
