Bottom line, I have to agree - talk to the owners. Look at it this way: around here if you are walking along a stream, it is probably running through someone's field. Even though I do have legal right to access the water, I would rather talk to the owner first and be forwarned about the bull in the field than be surprised and have to chase the bull off with my 4-weight.
