Here's a pic of the burled amboyna that I mounted on a 3 piece, 7 1/2', 4 weight, fiberglass that I got from Lamiglas. I wish I never sold that rod.

That looks very sharp! I've done a few builds on the RX6 blanks in the 2, 3 and 4 wt. configurations. I was very impressed with both the 6'6" 2wt. and the 7'6" 3wt. (I think it was the 7'6"....although it may have been the 7'9"......it's been a few years ago). Regardless, the 7'6" (I think) 3wt. was very smooth in close and it featured a true medium action similar to the full flex superfine rods. As for the 6'6" 2wt.....I overlined it with a WF 3wt. line which slowed it down a bit and gave it a similar feel.

And I REALLY like your Lami build......that looks like it was a SWEET rod!!!!!

Lamiglass Firecane Glass.....my favorite rod is my 7' 3wt Lamiglass rod. Will try and post a pic soon. A truly great blank.

    Default Superfine Touch 804 completed

I finished wrapping the guides on Sunday and applied finish to the wraps on Monday. The rod is essentially complete. I could not find my Orvis label, so I will have to put that on down the road.

I really took my time on the finish. After using the ultra thin coats of permagloss on my TXL-F, I decided to try to see how thin I could go with a single coat of regular 2 part epoxy finish (not the lite version).

I was really happy with the results:

Just gorgeous. Do you just thin the finish by warming it?

I was wondering what kind of winding check you were going to use. I really like what you decided. That retro look is KILLER. And your epoxy work is perfect. Nice One!
