Default The return of Gudebrod products...

"WEL-TEC LLC purchased the assets of Gudebrod Industries LLC in 2010. WEL-TEC is manufacturing all the products that Gudebrod made in their Fishing, Craft/Specialty, and Threads Divisions. The same equipment and a few of the same people making everything the same way. We have all the Rod Building Threads including Nylon, NCP, and HT Metallics in 100yd, 1 ounce and 4oz put-ups. Bait-Rigin' floss and rod building accesories, including Fish-Grippers and Fold-Away glasses. Our Craft area includes Artificial Sinew, Silk bead stringing and braids. Finally we have the Industrial thread division making MIL-spec threads for the aircraft industry as well as custom coated braids. Everything is Made In The USA."

The problem they need to overcome at this point is that with repeated promises to be back in production almost a year ago that were not fulfilled, many distributors picked up ProWrap as their thread supplier and don't want or feel a need to pick Gudebrod back up.

I sure would like to know where to get it. Merrick Tackle, maybe. But two other distributors I use do not carry it any longer.

I notice that Lakeland in the UK is offering it...I used to get mine from Bob Marriotts, here in LA...I will ask them about availability when I'm out there again...

ProWrap's color selection is much broader, but I am about out of Gudebrod Chestnut which is a much richer color than what ProWrap offers. If I find a 4oz spool or two I should be set for a while.

Any word if they will start making tying thread again? I really need some #0F77 fluorescent orange.

They are making it. I emailed Wel-tec this morning and got an answer back within an hour from the head honcho! You can get the tying thread from Lakeland in the UK. Only problem is that shipping to and from the UK is horrid. I will be calling the sales manager Monday to see what I can set up.
