    OPPOSABLE THUMBS AND FLY FISHING

You would think that after 48yrs, of which nearly 38 of them were spent doing some form of fly fishing that I would get it by now? But at times, it seems that I've only gotten worse with age. So much for that "aging like a fine wine" remark I always throw at my wife whenever she accuses me of getting old.

I was well into the third paragraph when I started laughing - at myself - and really identifying with your delightful and well written story, Ralph. Good read on a Monday morning when the temps are in the single digits and the water is getting stiff.

Out of 48 years of life, you have been active in some form of fly fishing for 38 years! Consider yourself blessed, for 38 years of enjoying all aspects of fly fishing.

Out of 63 years of life, I have been active in fly fishing for the last 16 years, coming to fly fishing late in my life. But over those 16 years, I have evolved into a fly angler, fishing waters that earlier in my life I would have never fished, meeting good folks that I would otherwise never have met!

Fly Fishing is not just about the fishing, it is a whole lot more than most us can ever realize! Fly Fishing fills that hole in our life, that we never knew was there, until we took up the "long rod"!

Thank you for this wonderful article.

    Ralph,

You really didn't think you were alone in this did you? We should start a club. Great story, well written.
