    Default The Kelso Streamside Vise

    Hi,

Posting some pictures of my Kelso vise. The vise comes in a weighted Wheatley fly box. You can use the fly box as a table vise. Also comes with a C clamp and even a screw for using it on a log or something stream side.
This is an absolutely awesome piece of engineering IMHO.

And not exactly cheap either, Byron! I passed on a free one several years ago, not knowing its value, either in utility or dollars.

Congratulations Byron, I am not familiar with this vise. Do you have any history information that you can share? Value on todays market?

    Hi,
Not sure of the value. This is the only one I have ever seen. I bought it probably 20 years ago at a specialty fly shop. I may have tied a half dozen flies with it. When I travel, I always forget to bring it!!!!!!! Instead, I usually take my Dyna King Voyager II. It has a much larger C clamp for those thick tables in motel rooms.

It is so well built! You almost have to see it and feel it to appreciate it. You could just travel with the suede leather pouch and leave the weighted base behind..............

    Thanks,
    Byron

    Hi Byron,

Really nice vice, would love one.

Looking at that photo the "legs" of the clamp appear to be adjustable on the shaft. If that is the case, take the one with the clamp screw in it off, and put it on the main stem upside down. Then turn the other over on its shaft. You now have a huge clamp that will fit almost any table.
    Cheers,
    A.
