    Default TOM'S BWO - Fly of the week - Nov 21, 2011

    TOM'S BWO

Thomas Snyder is 16 years old and lives in Shelburn, Indiana. He fishes in local lakes and ponds, and has been fly fishing for about 3 years. He bought a fly tying kit because his local fly shop closed up. He discovered FAOL and our readers have helped him learn new tying techniques and supplied him with material. This is his first submission to FAOL.

    Tom,

Good lookin BWO. Glad to see someone using Starling as a hackle. In my opinion, it's the most undervalued bird in a fly tyers kit. Well done, young man.

Good work Tom. Nice to see you posting your flies.

Very creative Tom. I'm a Hoosier also (Bloomington) and began tying when I was about your age. That was during WW II, and everything needed for tying was difficult to acquire, especially metal items like a vise and bobbins. And there was no eBay then. That gives you something to be grateful for. I look forward to seeing your future creations.
