I read this article on Avian Flu and this line caught my eye.
"Health experts (in the UK) have called for a ban on imports of poultry feathers from
Asia. "

In all seriousness, this could devistate the fly fishing industry, especially since so many of our flies come from Asia.
Our fly shops often depend on flies from this region of the world. The margins are small and to switch to locally produced flies will drive up the cost. Additionally, I can also see where the flies would have country of origin labels for the contents, much as the EU has labels on clothing and produce.
Yah know, those here in the US often hear "Buy American," chants from assorted groups. I ignore them, knowing that this is a global economy. Might start listening if this situation gets any worse.

How clean are your flies? How would you sterilize them?
