    Default Backing color bleeding

Hello all, I have had the floresent yellow from my backing bleed and stain my flyline. I was wondering what would be the best fix for this or should I just live with it. Jack

It doesn't hurt the fly line. Since it only effects the end of the line, any effect on line visibility is at the end farthest away from the fish. I have noticed that some brands/colors of dacron backing do not seem to bleed.

Gel Spun backings do not hold coloring agents well and I believe all such lines will bleed and eventually lose their color entirely.

Add me to the list of stained. Hi-vis green on a white fly line. It does help tell me when I'm getting close to the backing though. I'd say 203-0 feet of the fly line is stained.

tailingloop, out of curiosity which brand of dacron and color have you found that dosn't stain the flylines. Jack

I haven't had any bleed over from the Scientific Anglers hi vis orange. I also have a chartruese backing that has been on a reel for years and does not bleed. That may be S.A. also but I don't recall.

    Jack--
Do you recall any details about your backing? Brand, etc?

Diane, I have Cortland Micron, I have used their white for 25 years but recently switched to their flourescent on a new reel. Jack
