    Default Bamboo rod for swining wets

    Hi All;

    Anyone have a recommendation for a bamboo taper for swinging a cast of wet flys? I'd like something 8 foot or longer to ease in handling long leaders and mending.

    Thanks in advance;

    You're on the wrong site for a question such as that.

    I would suggest you ask your question on the "Classic Fly Rod Forum", unless fishbum chimes in.

    When you can arrange your affairs to go fishing, forget all the signs, homilies, advice and folklore. JUST GO.

    I still have my rebuilt Montague Clear Lake for $155.00 shipped. Should be great for what you are needing without the large Boo price tag. Let me know if you are interested and I can send pics and more info. No pressure though.

    A rod building forum I am a moderator for has a ton of very knowledgeable 'boo guys. I have built a couple of Leonard 804 rods for customers on blanks made by others and they are a nice little 8' 4w that would likely fill the bill for you.

    Not being really up on the various tapers it might be best if you were to ask them yourself. rodbuildingforum.com

    These guys are not as persnickity and snooty as some other rod building forums out there.

    Think about a Paul Young Para 15 taper. It kinda does everything.

    I've got a 9' Heddon Black Beauty 2f that is absolutely perfect for swinging wets. It's my goto rod if I know I'm going to be fishing wets downstream. (It's less friendly for fishing wets upstream or fishing dries.)
