Default Watch them blow up the Condit Dam on the White Salmon river Live today

Here is a link to the live feed of them breaching the Condit Dam today at Noon Pacific time. (3 PM Eastern)

    http://www.americanrivers.org/our-wo...the-river.html

Removal of the 95-year old, 125-foot Condit Dam will restore access to 33 miles of habitat for steelhead and 14 miles of habitat for chinook salmon.

Following the blast, the reservoir is expected to drain in six hours, kicking off one of the biggest dam removal and river restoration efforts our country has ever seen.

Thanks Mato. I forgot they were going to show the breach live. An amazing effort put forth by many groups over decades. Today they will see the fruits of their labor.

Really nothing more than a ripple by the time it hit the mouth of the river. Some nice debris got flushed out. Some folks in boats corralled up the larger logs and let the smaller stuff float down the Columbia

Those were steps built along the slope and painted orange. Nobody forgot anything. These breaches are planned right down to the very last detail.

Larry, I think they were hidden by the kayakers.

Wonder how much of the dam structure will remain when they are done. It would be cool to leave part of it as a historical marker/reminder for future generations, much like what they've done with some of the mill dams around here.
