We have a wounded warriors outing tomorrow. When this was planned we thought the guys would be fishing for salmon but I checked the web sites for a couple of guide services on the river tonight and it appears that we will be fishing for trout and smallmouth bass unless today's rain brings a lot of fish up the river . Both websites mentioned BWO's and small caddis as working but the guy who organized this thing says that fishing small flies is too difficult for beginners. He wants to stick with streamers and big wet flies. Have I just been doing this too long to remember how hard small flies are? I find casting the right fly to rising fish much more productive than blindly casting big flies and actually easier. These guys have had a little casting instruction but no experience on the water.
