Thought you all might be interested in the organization Veterans Airlift Command. They are volunteer group that provides their own aircraft, pilots and support to fly wounded warriors to their families or the families to the warriors that cannot travel. There isn't much worse than being wounded and hundreds, perhaps even thousands of miles from your family. Civilian flights are expensive and getting timely help from other agencies is difficult at best. Also the special needs of the wounded and their families are usually ignored or not met. Take a few moments to read about Veterans Airlift Command: http://www.veteransairlift.org/ If you feel inclined to help you can donate an aircraft, pilot for them or send them a tax deductible donation as they are a 501c3 organization. I have no association or affiliation with them other than being a fellow military aviator. The man who founded the group was a Huey pilot in Vietnam who had his foot blown off on a mission. I sent them a small donation. I do know that any amount helps as the cost of aviation fuel alone is ridiculously high. If this is out of line here then please remove the post. Just thought you all might like to know about this group.
