Default Local Front Range Stream Colorado

Ducked out for a quick little fly fishing foray after dropping off some camping gear at a friend's home. Got to the stream about 6:20 p.m. and I was on the water by 6:30.

I was using a biot CDC trusty rusty spinner, size 16. Began picking up trout right away. The trout began going nuts. I caught 16 fish by 7:20 p.m. Then the hatch suddenly shut off but I still caught one a little later (I'm persistent you see). Three trout were 14+" and one went over 15" and these were all solid body fish. All of the trout were browns. Missed 4 strikes. It was absolutely crazy. I was using a custom built bamboo 6' 2 weight rod with about as wispy a tip as you could possibly have and that bends into the butt. I had to rotate the rod in hand so as not to put a set in the rod tip section. Most of the stream is low so you have to search out sections where there are deeper pools and long glides that will come up to your shins. The sun was off the water. What an unbelievable blast!
