I hit the North Santiam yesterday and it was very slow. The temps are about 5 degrees below normal for this time of year and the steelies/salmon have been slow to arrive. The is LOTS of high mountain snow to melt and the tailwaters are about a foot above normal but crystal clear as usual. I managed a steelie on my last cast of the day and was lucky to get it. Not large, maybe 6 pounds.
