    Default facebook

I just out of curiosity signed up to this craze... Actually I did it to befriend my Son
just for fun as I knew he has many pals his age that are on it.. 17

he promptly rejected me and told me good luck with that with a big smile of his mug...
I am sure many parents here understand.. lol

More importantly some how within mere minutes I got several requests to become a friend
of some I do not know or maybe remember...

Six of those I know from this site... I apologize to those of you here for no response from me
as I decided to not take part no offense intended...

Guess I feel that it is in away a virtual handshake request and I need to let those know I am not
being rude just old fashion I suppose....

I likely have been bitten and don't realize it yet... Hope not...

Steve, the first thing to learn about Facebook is that you don't have to friend anyone unless you really want to...and it looks like you have that one down already. I have about 100 friends on FB, but if I trimmed it down to those I really keep contact with, it would probably be about 30. I probably spend less than a half hour a week on there.

Man! You went so far as to post a profile picture and you don't want any friends? Most of the time, someone has to be beaten into post ing a profile picture once they sign up.

I have friends from here, other boards, family, church, Scouts, past jobs, and that I never dropped after playing online games with them. I have met new friends and connected with others in new ways.

Can it be addictive? Yes, but I think you would enjoy it. It doesn't have to be addictive.

I joined 18 months ago to find a friend of mine in Texas. I found his son who led me to him. I have since friended about 60 folks, disregarded or refused, or ignored a few dozen requests. I have blocked, after the fact, several dozen "friends" who I found to be rude, disgusting or weird. I guess I'm just not really ready to be sociable.
I'm either going to, coming from or thinking about fishing. Jim

Steve, I think the word you are looking for is "notorious".

I avoid facebook at all costs.
