Default Wanted: Wooden Machinist Tool Box.

    Hi!

Just checking if any of you has one of this boxes. I've been looking for the gerstners that come up on ebay but 400+ is way out of my league.

I've been researching and have found that in the past many other brands made this boxes. Union, Craftsman, etc. Maybe one of those can be found for a "nicer" price. Or maybe some one here has one just collecting dust on a garage...

I want a 7 or 11 drawer box. As long as the box is structurally fine, I'll take it. Minor cosmetic flaws that can be repaired are not an issue.

    Tight lines!

    Dave.

Ps. Box will be shipped insede the ConUS.

Dave, check out Harbor Freight. I know they have one but do not remember how many drawers or other particulars.

The one at harbor freight 8 drawers... 6 half drawers ((3 drawers in 2 rows side by side)) and 2 full size drawers under those... In the top it has a large storage compartment also... 2 of the small drawers have partitions that are just right for spools of thread, floss or tensil...
If ya catch it on sale ya might git it fer around 55$ like i did here... Its the same size as the one orvise sells as far as size... and built just as good... Ive had mine fer 2 or 3 years now & gits lugged around about 8 to 14 times a year on trips & tying events...

Gerstners also has their "International" line which are far less costly than their standard boxes. They are made in an overseas factory. Gerstners also has "blem" sales about twice a year on standard boxes and can save you in the range of 35-50 %

    Thank you guys!!!

I?ve been watching and even bidding for some of the gerstners on ebay. But they end up in the neighborhood of 200-220 U$ which is just 30 bucks less than the one Orvis sells. I?m more than lured by the 90U$ price tag on the harbor freight one. It falls right on my budget.

However I?m going to take a look at those "international" models from gerstner before I make my move.

The Internationals (and the Orvis one) have the Gerstner name, but are made of lesser quality materials offshore. If you're gonna go that route, just buy the HF or other no-name model. If you want a Gerstner because its a Gerstner, you're gonna pay.
