Here's a challenge Tom, next trip by car, visit a Dollar Store or discount store and walk the aisles with flies in mind. Put together a few goodies and get creative. Looking forward to seeing your "Dollar Fly"

Great idea Dave. I still do that to find ideas for tying at times. I have found items for pennies that would cost alot more at the fly shop.

Latex gloves or condoms. You can make a sweet nymph with those.

If you want to start experimenting a bit with tandem streamers there are a ton of patterns out there. Some steel leader and two hooks will get you started, tie the leader and thread it through the eye of the first hook before tying it on tot he second hook.

Several years ago I bought a hair weave at the dollar store and early this year I was given a scrap of caribou hair. You can always check our your friends and neighbors dogs and cats.

Don't know how it would be, but you can get it for free, just collect your cloths drier lent since it collects in that lint trap? I have not tried this, but you ask for new tying material and that just kind of jumped into my head, LOL! May need to shake a little dirt or bad stuff out? I was just thinking of free and a challenge.

Why don't you find a site that has a lot of fly recipes. Then comb through the recipes and identify materials that you have not used in your tying. One such site is none other than FAOL.

    Good Luck.
