For that price you might want to consider going to The Global dorbeR Group, Inc. a FAOL sponsor & looking at their 10 ft 3 wt blank for 66 bucks. I bought the 10 ft 2 weight and like it.

I emailed TFO and got a very nice reply

    Jeff,

Yes, the BVK Conversion kit is a TFO product. It is brand new, however, and not listed on our website because we haven’t officially sent out the press release. We have shipped a few to dealers, which is where you probably saw it. Essentially, the conversion kit changes the 8’ 3 weight 4 piece BVK to a 10’ 5 piece 3 weight Czech Nymphing / dry fly rod. They have been so popular – even without a press release – that it has been tough keeping them in stock. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

It seems to me you would have 2 rods in one, an 8' 3wt for small streams and a 10' er for nymphing. Seems like a neat concept

TFO has always done good by me. I'd go for it if you have the cash.

I reviewed the TFO 3-wt. conversion kit in the summer issue of F&TJ. It's an interesting concept. I found the 10-ft. conversion seems to load a bit better with a 4-wt. line.

I don't know that it's available on line. It's in my regular new products column in the summer issue of Flyfishing & Tying Journal , which should be on the news stands now or very soon.

My apologies, that's the FALL issue.
