Went out to Harsens Isl today on a solo pike hunt. Rented a small rowboat to get into the Channel and started out looking for pike along shore. No weed beds, no solid strikes. Water was flat and I could see fish hittng hex's that had blown into the water. Tied on a hex pattern and nabbed two white bass. I have never seen them selectivly feeding on hex's before but there they were. Picked up a few before the wind kicked up and blew the hex into the main channel. Put on a deep water clouser and began casting to the steeper drop offs. As the boat drifted so did the streamer and fly line; all i had to do was wait for tension or the tell tale tap and it was fish on. Didn't count but i had to be close to 40 white bass and one perch. Another great MI day.
