    Default Lock-up your rooster hackle!!!!!!

My daughter just received her cosmology license, and is wanting to use my rooster capes hackle on her hair salon clients. There is a mania that has erupted across the USA since Steven Tyler, front man of Areosmith started rocking bright rooster feather extensions in his hair.

Now Beauty Salons across the USA are scrambling to get their hands on rooster capes from any source (retail or wholesale), my daughter better keep her mitts off my stash if see wants to continue being able to feed herself.

The beauty salons are charging $30 to $35 for a feather extension of 5 to 6 feathers.

My daughter is smitten with my Dun,Barred Ginger, Cree, Badger and Grizzly Capes Capes....., which now have been stashed in a place that nobody can find the capes but me!

You have been warned, if there are any females in your home, your stash of rooster capes are in "Harms Way" !!!!!!! ~Parnelli

Parn, you are a little late noticing that. There have been previous threads on the subject on the BB here.

I recommend getting her a live chicken and letting her do the rest. That should keep her from putting that stuff in her hair!

Steve, my local outdoor writer called me to ask about this phenomenon, and if I was experiencing any shortages or price increases because of the current craze. He's going to do an article about it in the near future. I told him we are empty nesters now, so my lifetime supply of feathers are still safe and sound in the tying room. I referred him to Denny to discuss any industry trends as far as supply & demand.

    Parnelli,

Have you been in Bora Bora for the past 6 months to a year?

    Steve,

At $30 bucks a feather, you're going to see a new sign outside my house that says Mr. Eight Thumbs Hair Creations---Feather Extensions the House Specialty!

Default You can find me in the FAOL Archives

My"Lock-Up Your Hackle" posting is meant as satirical humor.......Smiley Face!!!!

I have not been in Bora Bora for the the past 6 months! I have been busy working in the FAOL Archives!

Every new edition of FAOL, I convert all new article to PDF for my computer files. I have also been busy in the Archives of FAOL, recovering past articles that have previously run on FAOL.

I am current with all of the Fly Tying articles that I have been offering to members of FAOL at no cost. I am still adding fly patterns from other sites of FAOL outside of the normal Fly Tying folders. You would be suprised how many fly tying articles are in "Our Man in Canada Series"!

I have now started saving all of the Feature articles, have only 13 articles remaining to convert to PDF in the "Panfish" archives . I have already coverted 525 "Panfish" artciles to PDF.

In the near future I will be offering 2nd FAOL CD of the "Feature" archive articles. I already have converted Al Campbell's Field Editor articles, all of "LadyFisher's weekly articles, Neil Travis "From the Journal of" article. Next I will be converting all of the "Readers Cast" articles....and many more.

I have also been busy with supplying Ron Tidd with missing articles from the archives, that I have on my computer. I recently was directly involved with the new format listings of the FOTW archive articles, helping with the correct chronological order, and name of contributor.

Past 6 months I have been slightly busy with the annual "Beginner's Only Fly Swaps", which I created for FAOL many years ago!

    Parnelli,
I believe Allan's question about Bora Bora was also meant tongue in cheek, and could have been followed with a few of these, , and a few of these,.

The hackle thing has amazed most of us! From the hair extensions to the long ear rings, the feather growers of America are laughing all the way to the banks! While I certainly don't advocate it, they do look quite pretty in the sunlight!

PS ... The job that you are doing ... the service that you are working ... for FAOL is beyond phenomenal. Thank you!

Steve, be careful about hiding that hackle. You are reaching an age where it is often difficult to remember where you left things. I lost a fly box recently for two weeks by setting it down in the wrong place. If it had been deliberately hidden I think I would have had to write it off entirely.

According to the news I saw today, feathers may be relatively inexpensive. Theives are hitting salong hauling away ten of thousand worth of human hair extensions. The is a group of women in India that grow their hair very long and then cut if off and sale it for thousands of dollars.

Last time I saw Betty, she had what looked like a whole dang partridge skin on her head, with starling highlights! The soft hackle queen!
