A young man from my home town, Cpl. Matthew Dinning, lost his life to a roadside bomb this past weekend while serving with the Canadian Armed Forces stationed in Afghanistan.

If you could, please remember his family in your prayers. Now that I have son of my own, I can only imagine the pain of their loss.

When I think of the Dinning's loss, I'm reminded of the words Abraham Lincoln once wrote to a mother who had lost five sons on the field of battle:

"... I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom."

Thanks,
Andrew
