There are several different casting programs.

European Nymphing Techniques - Bret Nelson - This clinic will focus on a various nymphing techniques often called euro-nymphing. As you will see, this will open the door to nymphing beyond the foam indicator or thing-a-ma-bobber. These are techniques that are highly effective for finicky trout in highly pressured water. Topics covered will be 1) Nymphing styles including Czech, Polish, French, Spanish, and Dry Dropper; 2)Gear Selection; 3)Fly selection; 4)Stream tactics. This will include an on stream demonstration on Smith Creek, so be prepared to cool off a little in the creek. Limit 10 - $15.

Allen McGee:

Soft-Hackle Nymphing Techniques - ON-STREAM - Allen McGee - Instruction on the rigging, fly selection, and angling methods used to fish soft-hackled wet flies from the stream bed to the surface. I will cover the following and more: the Classic Wet Fly Swing, the Leisenring Lift, Stack and Slack, the Tuck Cast, the Flymph Mending Swing, mending, dropper rigging, the use of weight, leader lenghth and construction considerations, and freeline nymphing. We will learn the differences between North Country Spiders, flymphs and soft-hackled nymphs. The demonstration will begin with a 20 minute session on rigging and fly selection and then proceed to the water where I will demonstrate casting and wet fly presentation. The class will also focus on reading the water to determine fly selection, weight considerations, and presentation choices. Limit 10 - $25

David Hulsey:

Stream Tactics With David Hulsey - ON-STREAM - David Hulsey CCI - David will demonstrate the techniques and tactics used by him to put fish in the net of his clients. Get inside the head of a master that has honed his craft for over 30 years. Learn how to read the stream, select the fly, and make the first cast count. You will also develop a better understanding of tackle selection, fly selection, approach and presentation, casts, and what to do when the fish takes your fly. David will demonstrate to you how to select and fish streamers, dries, and nymphs in the four seasons in the Southern Appalachians. As an added bonus, David guides you to proper handling and picture taking of the trout of a lifetime. Overall, a guides view of the river. The program will be held at Naccoochee Bend at Unicoi Outfitters' Fly Shop in Helen, Georgia. You will need transportation to the fly shop. Bring your waders/boots or wet wading clothes/shoes due to the movement along the stream. Limit 10 - $15.

These are just a few of the programs. At the lodge, there will be fly shops, rod/reel vendors, guide services, and several artists. Mark your calendars. Support your passion and most of all share it with others.
