A KINGDOM FAR AWAY (fiction - part 1)

I was just 6 years old when my folks decided that it would be nice to have a place where we could get away on the weekends. We spent a few weekends investigating several places before they settled on a small cabin on Blue Lake, which was a couple hours' drive from our house in the city. Blue Lake was a picturesque little jewel of a lake set among the mixed hardwoods and pine forests in northern Minnesota.

    Minnesota has 6 "Blue Lakes".....

Blue Lake #1 Near La Crescent MN, along the Mississippi River. SE Minnsota
Blue Lake #2 Between Savage and Shakopee MN , along the Minnesota River. TwinCites
Blue Lake #3 NW of St Francis MN, just south of the Rum River.
Blue Lake #4 NE of Deerwood MN, along Hwy 210.
Blue Lake #5 N of Park Rapids MN, to the east of Potato Lake .
Blue Lake #6 Near Reamer MN.

I think the Blue Lake in the story is the one at Park Rapids MN, there is a really good Brown Trout Stream just south of Park Rapids MN on the Straight River. ~Parnelli

We also have 50 "Round Lakes",11 Stone Lakes and 154 Mud Lakes......

Lovin' it. Please don't stop that story.

Sounds good to me. Blue Lake was just a name I picked out of the blue [no pun intended]

Good story so far Neil , I can't wait for the rest. I once had a master angler ( I didn't know that then ) offer to teach me fly fishing and how to tie flies and I blew him off because I was 14 or so and still stuck in the "worms catch more fish than flyfishing" mode. I have always regretted doing that.
For God's sake, Don't Quote me! I'm Probably making this crap up!
