Default THE SELFISHNESS OF SOLITUDE - Whip Finish - June 06, 2011

Stepping out of the truck on the smallish forest service road bridge, I walked to the edge and peered upstream into a Jurassic Park type of setting. It had been a 3 hour drive around the south end of the Olympic peninsula and back up the west coast to a stream I had only received verbal directions to, but after careful scrutiny of my gazetteer and USFS map I believed that I had in fact found it. The small stream was approximately 10feet in width at the point where it crossed the road.

Default It Is Not Selfishness, When You Are Willing to Share!

You found a solitary fishing site, far away from human contact! Suddenly you find that you are not alone.

So you did the proper thing, and shared the day and the stream with someone who was a stanger, and ended up with a friend. ~Parnelli

Good tale I enjoyed it very much. Been there done that. I find that rising with the sun often finds me alone out on the small lakes I frequent. I am usually the only one out there for the first 2 or 3 hours and sometimes a flash of resentment will raise its ugly head at the sight of the 2nd person out there.

It's strange, but when given the choice of whether to go out alone or invite someone else to come along I always opt for the latter.
