    Default 9', 4pc, 5w Tiger Eye

This was done for the Ranger at the larger Scout Camp in the Denver Area Council, BSA. I incorporated some elements of the camp into the rod but did not want it to be a completely Scout themed rod.

The cocobolo insert was turned for the BUL5 hardware in bright chrome. The grip is done with burnt cork, cork burls, and Ponderosa Pine bark from the camp. I used garnet thread with gold accents on the chrome PacBay snakes. The customer's name and the brand for the Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch is worked into a decal over gold liquid leaf.

    Thanks for looking!

Yes, Kevin, they do come out nice. BUT, what is liquid gold leaf, where do you get it, how do you apply it?

I get mine at Michael's. Find the gold leaf supplies and this is hanging with that stuff. It is a gold or silver paint. Brush it on with a brush you are going to throw away. It dries fairly quickly. I want to try regular gold leaf as well. The gold leaf texture would show through as well.

You can use any color behind the decal. The decal is printed on a clear mailing label. When creating the decal, anything that is white will be transparent and the base color will show through.

    Kevin,

That's some right purty pine bark, which is something I don't think I have ever thought before. Overall another beautiful jobs, when I make my second million I'm going to have you make me one.

Betty, if you like, I will work up a tutorial on those decals. I have another rod coming up that will use one and can make it up as I go on that one.

    Kevin,
That would be fantastic! I'd really enjoy seeing how it's done! Mayhaps, something I could (or others here) use in the future! Thank you!
