Dai-Riki 125 vs Daiichi 1130

Can anyone tell me how they compare in size?

By that I mean, is a Dai-Riki 125 #16 the same as a Daiichi 1130 #16?

The shape is comparable, but I notice that often what one manufacturer calls one size may not be the same as another manufacturer. I'm tying KG's parasol PMD Emergers. Schollmeyer's Hatch Guide for Western Streams puts the PMD nymph and dun at 7-9mm. The Daiichi 1130 #16s just seem a bit small.

Daiichi hook charts says they are "similar". I read that to be that they look alike but may not be the same "size".
When you say "size" and hooks in the same sentence your in for trouble.
Everyones 16 is different. There is no standard that I know of and probably never will be one. I mean if there was, then all the hooks would be the same and there would be no need for mutiple manufactures

True Harry. I suppose a better measure would be to match my hooks to the size of the insect I want to imitate instead of worrying about if manufacturer's hooks can be matched to each other. On the other hand I think some sort of scale bar (in millimeters) might be helpful on hook comparison charts for each manufacturer. At least that would get me into the ballpark when converting.

Yep, it's just like buying shoes. Try them on and see which one fits, THEN see what size it is
