It all depends on the guides I think? Though I have a limited experience base with them. But in everything, a guide must be able to evaluate the experience levels of the fisherman he is guiding. If you micro-manage an experienced angler you will lose a followup visit. But after talking with our guides recently used. Ours said the weekend was a blessing and a break, because we could cast and understood what we were doing. Not like the majority of people they meet. He understood that we simply wanted to fish their waters, and any help on patterns and best holding waters would be appreciated. We swapped patterns and had some great discussions on fishing. I left feeling like I had just spent the weekend with any other fishermen. Bu tI don't envy them trying to take a novice who can barely cast...or even worse who "thinks they can cast"...onto a technical stream, with the expectations that you as a guide will make them magically catch fish. I don't envy them at all
