For the six months that I've been fly fishing, I've read about fishing in rivers and streams; wondering what it would be like to fish in moving water as I drove to the nearby lake.

It hit me like an anvil yesterday - there's a small river not 5 miles from the house that I've passed over and over thinking 'I bet there are tons of fish in there' . . . and never thought to take my flyrod down there and see if there are fish in it.

Now that I've put two and two together, I'm here at the office, supposed to be writing some program to do something-er-other, and all I'm thinking about is hitting the river tonight, what fly to try first, what I actually need to take in my pockets since the truck won't be a few yards away like at the lake, how deep the water will get as I walk down the stream (don't own waders), etc.

As long as the boss doesn't walk by, I guess I'll be okay.

Hey, is it better to work my way upstream, or downstream? Or does it make a difference ?

Well, wish me luck, and I'll let ya'll know how it goes tonight.
