    Default Catch and Release Replicas

I caught a nice rainbow today that I would like to have a nice replica of ( yes I released it of course). Anybody have some suggestions regarding companies that make a nice lifelike replica?

    Howdy neighbor!
The first that comes to mind is Ellen McCaleb at [url=http://www.fishcarvings.com:9a474]http://www.fishcarvings.com[/url:9a474] . She's big time in the fish art business. There may be others that are FAOL sponsors or members that I don't know about!

My fishin' buddy Ken presented our fishing circle with an offer this year (he's an expert, retired, professional carver) -- any of us that gets a fish over 24" this year gets a free catch and release carving, if we get pics and length and girth measurements. Plus bribes.

Anyway, check out the link. Give me a holler at: danbob at otherpower.com if you are interested in someone local, I can put you in touch with Ken and see what he thinks.

Also, I'll be at Bob's Fly Shop for most of the day Saturday (april 22) building a new rod, drop by and we can meet in person!

PS -- where'd you catch the big rainbow????

Thanks guys- I did take a picture but like an idiot I didnt bring my measuring tape. I took the picture next to my rod for reference. I havent developed the pictures yet. Man, I have to be better prepared next time.

Danbob, I won't be back in town until next week - this spot is on the west slope. Maybe we can meet up at Bobs sometimes.

Im hesitant to tell you where this is exactly, Im liable to get a "Theres that flyrod waving SOB that told" from the local spin crowd that might get a little uptight. Im the only "dude" with a fly rod so it would nt take them long to fiqure out who brought the crowds in.

I got the distinct impression that this was a locals secret. I found it by walking along the shoreline. Then I saw a group of 5 or 6 spin fishermen concentrated in a small area. I saw their stringers in the water with huge fish and thought Id give it a try.

That was yesterday and I caught a Cutthroat/Bow that was about 24" along with another about 18" Today I caught the big rainbow. Obviously these fish are on a spawn run and are concentrating in this small channel. Apparently over the next two weeks the activity is expected to increase, and there will probably be a gauntlet of spin fishermen with power bait, eggs and such, all catching and keeping. Apparently this happens every spring.

    I was amazed.
