You don't have to weave to make a hair hackle wetfly.

Pott Stickers jamb the hair up against a bead to in order achieve much the same thing. Willy and Chris at the Troutfitters shop in Bozeman MT make synthetic hackle wet flies too, also with the same bead-jamb technique.

Now that you've brought this up.....it makes me wonder if I couldn't use a lump of foam instead of a bead, in
order to make a hair hackle dry fly.

Might have to call that one the Pott Licker.....OK, here's a first stab at a Pott Licker:

I was talking to a fly shop owner the other day, they can't get their saddle orders filled. I mentioned that it is only a fad and should fade away, he said that people are now feathering their show horses, dogs and cats as well. Some how a feather on a cat just ain't right, or for that matter a good hunting dog wearing feathers. Sad thought.

    Larry,

You'd think they'd go crazy trying to chew them off. I wonder how long before the fashionistas discover how many of those feathers go into flies like Flatwing Streamers, buy them up and strip them down for parts?

    Regards,
